Film Review “Volver”
Published 1 year, 11 months ago in Entertainment.As a Penelope Cruz lover & a believer that Pedro Almodovar is the most amazing movie director of all times, I am rather biased about the film. If you can handle sub titles give this film a try. With most of Pedro’s films there is a quirky element. Volver is no different. Could be considered a ‘chick flick’ but that doesn’t mean you have to leave your male mate at the pub. Go see this film with an open mind & be prepared to be surprised & emotionaly tantilised. Stars 12 outa 10 But as I said I am very biased. check the blurb

I enjoyed this film, though, as a bloke did feel like a duck outta water and felt a bit distanced by the heavy focus on the female cast. That’s not to say that I don’t like some chick flicks.
I told my friend about my response to the film and she told me an interesting statistic relating to the percentage of screen time relative to men / women in film/media and I think it was an unusually high 80% or more dedicated to men?! Can’t remember exactly but was somewhat surprised so maybe I should get used to the shoe being on the other foot.
Did find the story quite compelling though, as twisted as the revelations are.
7/10 from me.
